How to: Set Up LS Recommend Batches

LS Recommend Batch allows you to specify the transactional sales history from POS terminals and which items should be considered for recommendation calculation.

To include or exclude certain items or item groups for the recommendation calculation, you can define an LS Recommend Batch with Item Scope set to Include or Exclude, and assign its items or item groups via the LS Recommend Item Links accordingly.

Note: Blocked items are automatically excluded in the recommendation calculation regardless of the Item Scope defined.

To set up LS Recommend Batches

  1. Click the icon, enter LS Recommend Batches, and select the relevant link.
  2. Click the New action to create a new batch in your LS Central database.
  3. Fill in the relevant fields:
Field Description
No. This field specifies the number of the batch. The batch number cannot be blank and must only contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z and 0-9) without spaces.
Description This field specifies the description of the batch.
Sales History (Days) This field specifies how far back in the sales history to calculate the recommendation for items assigned to the batch. This field accepts a minimum value of 30 to a maximum value of 10950.
Item Scope This field specifies which items are to be used for calculating the recommendation. These items are assigned using the LS Recommend Item Links and will be updated in the LS Recommend Item for the batch. For more information see How to: Set Up Items for LS Recommend.

Available values:

  • Include - Only the specified item(s) or item group(s) will be considered in the calculation.
  • Exclude - All items except the specified item(s) or item group(s) will be considered in the calculation.

If the items have been set to Blocked in Item Card:
  • For an LS Recommend Batch which has the Item Scope Include, the blocked items will not be added to LS Recommend Item.
  • For an LS Recommend Batch which has the Item Scope Exclude, the blocked items will be added to LS Recommend Item, if they are not already there. Likewise, if a previously blocked item has been unblocked, it will be marked for deletion if its entry currently exists in LS Recommend Item as Exclude.

Note: You cannot modify this setting for an active batch. You must first deactivate and synchronize it to LS Recommend, before changing this setting.

Active This check box specifies whether the batch is active or not. For newly created batches, you must first activate them for them to be synchronized to LS Recommend. For the batches you want to remove, you must deactivate and synchronize them to LS Recommend before you proceed with the deletion in your LS Central client.
Sync. Action This field specifies if the batch is pending synchronization to LS Recommend and shows the upcoming synchronization action as Add, Modify, or Delete before any further changes are possible.

Possible values:

  • <blank> - this is the default value for a newly created batch and indicates that no synchronization action is needed.
  • Add - shows a newly created batch has been activated in LS Central and is ready to be synchronized and added to LS Recommend.
  • Modify - shows that the Sales History (Days) for an already activated and synchronized batch has been updated and the change needs to be synchronized to LS Recommend.
  • Delete - shows that an existing synchronized batch has been deactivated in LS Central and is ready to be synchronized and deleted from LS Recommend.
No. of Downloaded Items This field specifies the maximum number of recommended items to be downloaded from the LS Recommend Model Reader. If you leave this value blank, the system will use the default value of 10.
No. of Displayed Items This field specifies the number of recommended items to be displayed on the POS panel or printed on the slip. If you leave this value blank, the system will use the default value of 5.
Filter by Inventory This check box specifies if the system will filter the recommended items to be shown on the POS panel based on their inventory level. It works together with the Min. Inventory field.
Min. Inventory This field specifies the minimum inventory level that the recommended items must fulfill for them to be displayed on the POS panel, if Filter by Inventory is activated.
Scheduler Job ID This field specifies the job that will be used to schedule the LS Recommend calculation for the batch. For more information see How to: Schedule LS Recommend Calculation.

To upload and synchronize LS Recommend Batches to LS Recommend

  1. Click the icon, enter LS Recommend Batches, and select the relevant link.
  2. Click Maintenance - Synchronize. This synchronizes all batches in LS Central that are pending synchronization to LS Recommend. This means, any new batch created in LS Central will be created in LS Recommend, and any deactivated batch in LS Central will be removed from LS Recommend.
  3. Alternatively, you can set up a Scheduler job to synchronize the LS Recommend Batches automatically. For more information see How to: Schedule Master Data Synchronization.

Note: When an inactive batch is synchronized to LS Recommend, all LS Recommend POS terminals and LS Recommend Items that have been set up for this batch will also be deleted.

To compare batches in LS Central and LS Recommend

The LS Recommend Batches Compare page provides you with an overview of all the batches that are maintained in LS Recommend. You can use this page to compare these batches with the list of batches that are maintained locally in LS Central. This also helps you to easily identify any batches that may be out-of-sync between LS Central and LS Recommend.

  1. Click the icon, enter LS Recommend Batches, and select the relevant link.
  2. Click Maintenance- Compare (Local vs. Cloud). This helps you compare the LS Recommend batches with the LS Central batches.
  3. Batches present in LS Recommend but not in LS Central are marked as Not Exist (Local). You can use the Delete Batch action to remove these batches from LS Recommend.
  4. Batches that are marked as Out of Sync may be caused by existing batches in LS Central that are yet to be synchronized, and also by a mismatch in Sales History (Days) or Item Scope. To resolve such out-of-sync situations:
    • For mismatch in Sales History (Days), adjust the Sales History (Days) of the batch in LS Central, and synchronize the change to LS Recommend.
    • For mismatch in Item Scope, you must first deactivate the batch in LS Central and synchronize to LS Recommend. This will remove the batch and its related data from LS Recommend. Next, make the necessary amendments to the batch in LS Central, reactivate and synchronize it to LS Recommend.
