Scale

The Scale device is an OPOS device. When the POS sells an item that is marked as a scale item, the POS asks for the weight of the item before selling it.

Both simple and price calculating scales are supported by LS Hardware Station.

Click here for instructions on how to add this device to the Management Portal.

Note: In the Management Portal, you can test the connection to the scale by using the test functions in the Tools menu (on the right, when a device has been selected):

The Weigh item and calculate price test function asks the scale which functionality is supported in the scale. Once the weighing has finished, a message is displayed in the Management Portal with the results. So, for example, if a scale that does not support calculating the price of the weighed item, the message in the Management Portal will display the weight and sales price as 0, even if a unit price was entered in the dialog box before the test weighing starts.
The same goes for the tare calculations: if they are not supported, the entered tare weight is not subtracted.

To use this device in LS Central, the device needs to be added to the Hardware Profile. You can add the device automatically through the Detect Hardware functionality on the Hardware Profile.
You can configure the functionality of the Scale in the POS Scale card in LS Central. When the device is added automatically through the Hardware Profile, all configurations are set with default values.

Note: You can change the prompt that is displayed to the POS user, when a scale item is scanned, in the POS Scale card .
