Setting Up Date Schedules
A date schedule specifies whether a specific date is valid or not.
As an example, you can set up a schedule that is valid
- on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
- only on Fridays, excluding holidays that fall on Fridays
- on weekends and on certain dates that are holidays (and do not fall on the weekends)
- on one specific day.
You use a date schedule for the dining area plan templates you set up. Validation schedules combine date schedules and time schedules for a very flexible, accurate validation setup.
Is the date valid?
When it is checking the validity of a date, the program first checks the Date Restrictions. If the date is not valid according to these restrictions, the answer is NO.
If the date is valid, the program checks the weekday settings. If the date's weekday is valid, the answer is YES. Otherwise, the answer is NO.
Note: If no weekday fields are checked, no dates are ever valid for this date schedule.
Note: For the lines, Starting Date must be filled in. If the date schedule contains only exclude lines, the date schedule is valid except on excluded days and periods. An excluded line must have Starting Date and Ending Date filled in.
To set up a date schedule
- Go to the Date Schedule List page.
- Click the New action, and insert a new date schedule with an ID and description.
- On the General FastTab, select the Valid All Weekdays check box to select all the weekday fields. You can then click certain weekday fields to clear their check box, if appropriate. Note: At least one weekday check box must be selected.
- On the Date Restrictions FastTab, you can enter a Starting Date and an Ending Date to include or exclude a single day or period. You can also enter just a Starting Date on a line to make the date schedule valid from that date on. To exclude periods or days after this starting date, you insert Exclude lines that exclude these periods and days.
